Parents of Prospective Students
For parents and school leavers alike, the decision of which colleges and courses to fill in on the CAO form can be a confusing and difficult one. Being informed about course content and potential career opportunities available once a course of study is completed is the best way to decide if a course is suitable. The course pages on this website are designed to give infomation on course content and potential careers. In addition, there are a number of events throughout the year that can help to inform potential students about MABE Department courses:
University of Limerick Open Days: Normally held on Thursday and Friday of the second week in October, these days allow perspective students access to exhibits, lectures and facility tours for perspective courses. The MABE department has a stand manned by lecturers and current students who can answer any questions about courses offered by the Department. In addition, a smaller scale information day is also held in January. Details of all UL Open Days and Information Days will be advertised on the Main UL website and local press prior to the event.
Graduate Experience Evenings: These events take place in January and June (prior to the CAO application deadline and change of mind deadline respectively), graduates of MABE course are invited back to UL to give a talk about their experience on their course of study and their current career. These events give prospective students a good feel for what each course entails and the type of career they could follow after graduation. If you or someone you know would be interested in attending one of these events, please contact Ms. Siobhán Harris (e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org, tel: +353-(0) 61-202421) at the Faculty of Science and Engineering office for bookings.
The MABE Department is always happy to answer any questions or queries from prospective students. Details of contact information for Course Directors of each of the courses offered by the department is available on the Course webpages.
