The mission of the Department of Life Sciences is excellence in teaching, research, and service to the community.  At undergraduate level, four programmes are currently offered in the areas of Equine Science and Food Science and Health. 

The Department of Life Sciences also makes a significant contribution to other undergraduate programmes such as Environmental Science, Science Education (run jointly by the Faculties of Science and Engineering and Education and Health Sciences), and Nursing and Midwifery (Faculty of Education and Health Sciences).
